Basketball Death

This morning Central High School student, Todd White, collapsed in the middle of basketball practice. White was taken to Central Valley Memorial Hospital where we has pronounced dead a short time later, after several attempts to revive him. An autopsy will be performed later today, however White had no known illnesses. White was only a freshman.

Energy Plan

The Secretary of Interior, Grace Green announced an exciting new energy plan at the Western Governor’s Conference in Salt Lake City. The eight hundred million dollar plan intends to cut surface mining, but make licensing for new nuclear power plants easier. Green calls for this to be a five-year program. Green believes this plan is a way to lower dependence on overseas oil and also make America more environmentally friendly.

Faculty Death

Beloved faculty member, Elizabeth Billson passed away after fighting cancer for nearly 10 years. Billson has been teaching with us for 36 years. Almost 10,000 future teachers were taught under Professor Billson during her teaching career. Last year the university awarded Billson with the “Outstanding Professor” award. Many will miss Billson and the university is thankful to have had her teach and touch so many students.
Wreck
Yesterday evening a collision between two trucks on I-59 caused a heavy traffic jam for many travelers. Both drivers are reported
unhurt, but considered for speeding and reckless driving. This wreck caused the road to be blocked from both directions for nearly 45 minutes. One of the trucks was carrying fuel that spilled, causing the highway to be very slick from the oil. The other truck caused lost almost ten thousand dollars worth of food after items thawed because of the wreck.
